Sonny Bono first met Cher in a coffee shop next to a Los Angeles radio station, in 1963. Sonny had been working as a production assistant to Phil Spector. Using the name Caesar and Cleo, Sonny and Cher released The Letter, and then under the solo name, Bonnie Jo Mason, Cher issued Ringo I Love You in 1964. At this time, Cher still couldnt handle the idea of being solo, and dragged a reluctant Sonny back into the act. By 1965 they were officially Sonny and Cher, and scored the No.1 I Got You Babe.
